A full-immersion brew that keeps every oil and fine particle in the cup — the most forgiving method for showing off a medium-dark or dark roast's full body.
Steps
- 1.Use a coarse grind, roughly 1 gram of coffee to 15 grams of water.
- 2.Add the grounds to the preheated carafe and pour in all the hot water at once, making sure every ground is saturated.
- 3.Stir gently once, then place the lid on with the plunger pulled all the way up and steep for 4 minutes.
- 4.Press the plunger down slowly and steadily — if it meets heavy resistance, your grind was too fine.
- 5.Pour immediately into your cup; coffee left sitting on the grounds keeps extracting and turns bitter.
